How To Stop Gambling Tip #5 Eat Well and Exercise

How To Stop Gambling Tip #5

This is the continuation in my series of tips on how to stop gambling. Just to review, here

are the first five tips on how to stop gambling:

1. Decide that you want to stop gambling after admitting that you do indeed have a gambling

problem and that it has disrupted your life.

2. Each day you wake up, make a decision on that given day that you will not gamble, since

you already made a decision to quit gambling.

3. Plan your day around your decision to stopping gambling. Make sure that you plan your

schedule in 15 minute increments as this really does help.

4. Join a support group such as Gamblers Anonymous to help you on your mission to continue to

quit gambling.

Tip #5, as one of your solutions to stop gambling is as follows:

Embark in a good health and nutrition program in addition to a good exercise plan. Commit to

good eating and exercise daily as this will not only help your physical health, but will

improve your mood as well.

When we eat nutritious foods and exercise, we are showing ourselves that we care about our

health. When we care about our health we will be more apt to do things that are good for us

and not destructive and harmful.

When you quit gambling it may be hard to suddenly jump into a really strong nutrition and

exercise plan.

My suggestion to you is to make small changes in your eating and exercise behavior on a daily

basis. For example, add a salad to your lunch and try to eliminate the fast foods you were

consuming daily.

You can even try to add a daily walk to your routine.. even if it is only 5 minutes. You can

then increase this over time.

When you stop gambling, replacing unhealthy behaviors of eating and lack of exercise will

provide a great benefit to you.

After you quit gambling, you will see that better eating and an exercise plan will contribute

positively to your health.

As stated previously, as you do good things for yourself, you will be less apt to do harmful

and destructive things like gambling.

This will most certainly help keep you focuses on your decision to change your life by stop

gambling.

How To Stop Gambling Tips Part 4

How To Stop Gambling Tips Part 4

This is the next section of my series on how to stop gambling tips. Just to review the
first 3 tips.

Stop Gambling Tip #1: Admit that you have a gambling problem first, and make the decision to

want to stop gambling.

Stop Gambling Tip #2: Make a decision each morning that you will not gamble that day.

Remember, you have decided to stop gambling, and each morning you need to remind yourself of

this.

Stop Gambling Tip #3: Plan out your day, in 15 minute increments if you have to. Stick to

your schedule rigidly. Make sure all waking hours are covered.

In stop gambling tip #4, you want to look into a support group that will assist you in your

decision to quit gambling. Gamblers Anonymous is a good place to start, and there will most

likely be at least a few Gamblers Anonymous groups in your nearby area.

Why would you need a support group to help you stop gambling? For one, many of the Gamblers

Anonymous veterans have learned how to stop gambling over time, and are living proof that

life is better after you quit gambling.

Secondly, many people benefit from a group setting and can help themselves better with the

support of a group. Although stopping gambling can be done alone through a strong conviction

and good self-help program, group support can be a welcome addition to your treatment plan.

Thirdly, there is accountability to others besides yourself after you join a Gamblers

Anonymous 12 Step program. You will know that if you go back to gambling after you quit

gambling that you will need to let your group members know. This can deter you from a

gambling addiction relapse because you will not only not want to dissapoint yourself, but

disappoint the group as well.

I need to state, however, that if you return to gambling after you stop gambling that the

Gamblers Anonymous support group is still very accepting of you when you come back to a

meeting.

This 12 step group does not encourage a return to gambling, however, the group members want

you go go back to a meeting without feeling judged so you can continue in your mission to

quit gambling.

Group support is truly important as a tip in how to stop gambling. Remember that self-help as

well as group help is really a powerful combination and should definitely be considered as

one of your solutions to stop gambling.

How To Stop Gambling Tips Part 3

This is the third part of my series on "how to stop gambling" tips. Just to review, stop gambling tip #1 was deciding whether or not you really wanted to stop gambling. Once you decided that you wanted to quit gambling, tip #2 was making a decision on a daily basis that you would not gamble on that given day.

Stop gambling tip #3 is a follow-up to tip #2. Once you made a decision on that given day, or given hour that you would not gamble, you would then begin to plan out your day. So with this tip, it is suggested that you plan out your day on a quarter hour, half hour, or hourly basis with activities that would fill your day.

In the process of quitting gambling, it is crucial that you fill your day, every day with productive activities that have nothing to do with gambling whatsoever. You need to keep yourself as busy as possible so that you do not have too much time on your hands.

The positive aspect of this tip is that because you have stopped gambling, you will have time to do some of the things that you have not done before.

When you were gambling, you most likely neglected or procrastinated a lot of things that you needed to or wanted to do for yourself.

For example, your plants outside may have needed repotting, or you may have neglected to clean the garage for several months on end.

You will most likely find yourself very busy with a lot of different projects since you have quit gambling and made the decision to improve your life.

In addition, you probably have many hobbies that you have not participated in while you were active in your gambling addiction. With this tip to stop gambling, you can now re-ignite the passion for these hobbies that you have neglected.

It is hoped that stop gambling tip #3 was helpful for you as one of the solutions to stop gambling in your arsenal.

How to Stop Gambling Tips: Part 2

How to Stop Gambling Tips: Part 2

The first how to stop gambling tip was deciding whether or not you want to stop gambling.

There are many solutions to stop gambling and self-help books on how to stop gambling. This

does not matter, however, if you have not decided whether or not you want to stop.

You must make the decision to stop gambling before you actually look for ways to stop

gambling. As stated previously, if you do not do this, it will be an exercise in futility.

The second tip on how to quit gambling is the following:Tell yourself when you wake up in the

morning that you will not gamble on that given day. If this is too hard to do, tell yourself

that you will not gamble one hour at a time.. or even one minute at a time.

You really must make this decision first thing in the morning. Write it down on paper, or

even meditate on this. This is crucial because even though you made a decision to stop

gambling, you must be able to act out the behavior of not gambling on a daily basis.

When you wake up in the morning, before breakfast, tell yourself that you will not gamble.

Make this promise to yourself, because once you decide this your day will be easier, and you

will not have as many urges.

Doing this is going to be harder for you in the beginning, however this will become easier

once you are away from gambling for a longer period of time.

Remember that self help to stop gambling is not a replacement for professional counseling or

even 12 Step meetings for Gamblers Anonymous.

Many of you may need professional assistance to help you quit gambling, and this is not a bad

thing. If you are looking for additional self help to stop gambling resources, Stop2Gambling

is a program that you may want to take a look at. In addition, 111 Tips To Beat Your Gambling

Addiction
can help you to stop gambling as well.

All of those trips to the casino with your friends would have to stop. Taking that drive down to the casino with all of your excitement and hope of a big win would have to stop.

All that adrenaline that you feel on your way to the casino and while in action would have to stop.

How are you going to do this?

Well the first question you will have to ask yourself is whether or not you really want to stop gambling.

You see, if you really do not want to stop gambling and are doing it for someone else, it will be extremely hard to quit gambling. You will not be able to do this if it is not in your heart.

So the first question in how to stop gambling is: "Do I really want to stop gambling?" This self honesty is truly important before you do anything else
